I’m working on writing a book. When I say work, I mean work—for almost two years now. The following keys are worn bare on my keyboard: T,R,E,S, A, I and O. I’m on my third major rewrite. I’m near 80,000 words. All I really want to do is throw some fun and positivity into the fiction milieu. Write a book that will enrich the reading entertainment hours of women. Create characters that my readers will claim as friends and miss when they turn the final page. Send a tiny bit of fun and happiness into the Universe. Encourage just a bit. Uplift. That’s all. Nothing Earth shattering. But it’s hard work.
And then an email arrived yesterday that led to an epiphany. My goal here is to make the world a happier place and I somehow accomplished that goal with one word scrawled on a sticky note. No work.
BF and I had gone to dinner at La Trattoria with a friend. I paid the check with a one-hundred-dollar bill. Proprietor and friend Tom returned to our table. “Debi, did you know this sticky note was on your money?”
I laughed and took the note which I planned to discard. Previously, I had taped the hundred-dollar bill to our bathroom mirror with the sticky note as a reminder to allow abundance to flow into our lives. (I do stuff like that). I showed my friend the sticky note and explained. She asked, “Can I have that?”
Her email to me:
“. . . I had a wonderful evening with you and Rick. Thank you both so much.
I also want to thank you for the sticky note. I have it next to my coffee pot and it is one of the first things I see in the morning . . . I walk in to the kitchen and see your sticky note and I can’t help but to smile . . . and name all of the beautiful, positive things that I allow in my life. Thank you ❤”
Today, I return to my manuscript with the hopes that I will finish it soon, launch it into the Universe, and it will have the same effect as that single word on a sticky note. Today, I Allow!
You ROCK!
