In 13 work days, I’ll be living my actual Dream Job–A teacher during the summer months. For today I’m dreaming about the one that exists merely in my fantasy life.
I host my own cooking show on the food network and blog about food. My peers have suggested a show title: “Debi Does Dinner,” which I summarily rejected. I prefer “What’s for dinner, Debi?” My calling card would be simple, healthy meals with a daily menu plan. I’m a firm believer in eating well and often.
The first step toward the enjoyment of cooking is to marry well. Marry a chopper/griller man who enjoys healthy food and knows how to use a wine opener. Enlist him as a sous chef. This is not essential, we women are excellent and being self-sufficient, but it makes it more fun. Oh, and if he likes to chat with a dish rag in his hand and helps pack lunches for the following day, grab him and don’t let him go! There’s something terribly sexy about a guy who does dishes.
Let’s talk food . . .
Rule #1. You get what you pay for. Buy high quality, fresh, and local when available. A true foodie loves the grocery and visits several of them in the course of a week.
Rule #2. Keep it simple. On my show there will be no “reducing of sauces” or seven step recipes. If BF and I can’t prepare it in an hour’s time with a few ingredients, forget it. You’ll have to change the channel for the fancy stuff.
For today, I’m going to keep dreaming and enjoy my built-in snow day turned day off and show you a few pictures of Raisin Bread French Toast that we have created together. Okay, so I uploaded the photos and they appeared backwards. I just can’t quite get this picture uploading thing yet. Oh well.
