An Ode to Tina Turner
January 9, 2015

When I listen, the Universe talks to me.

Recently, I named my new car Tina Turner.  Without deliberation, the idea popped into my head and stuck.  It made sense to me because my car is fast and sleek and sexy and black, just like Tina.  And its initials are TT.  Perfect.

And then I added her station to my Pandora.  I wanted to tap into her energy.  Reconnect.  I had sort of forgotten how truly cool she is.

First thing this morning, I propped up in bed with a cup of coffee and sifted through Instagram.  There she was, my Tina.   Liberatum, an artsy group I follow, posted an amazingly wild photo of Tina Turner on stage, shapely legs spread eagle, arms outstretched, face ablaze with uninhibited  joy.  Exuberance.  Fun unleashed.

They quote her: “My greatest beauty secret is being happy with myself.  I don’t use special creams or treatments – I’ll use a little bit of everything.  It’s a mistake to think you are what you put on yourself.  I believe that a lot of how you look is to do with how happy you feel about yourself and your life.  Happiness is the greatest beauty secret.” ~Tina Turner

Bravo!  Thank you Liberatum.  Thank you Tina Turner.  Thank you Universe for bringing her back into my life.

The Universe is guiding me on an incredible adventure: my Plan B. I write here to share bits of my Odyssey, hopefully to inspire, encourage, or extend the virtual hand of friendship.

When I quit teaching in 2014, I could never have imagined the growth I would experience through travel, writing, reading, therapy, and introspection.

I believe human connection and compassion will go a long way toward our healing, and the best way to connect and feel compassion for one another is through the sharing of our stories.

Thank you for joining me here. I appreciate you and may we grow together.
