Crete
July 6, 2011

Just returned from watching the sunset over the water with the island mountains as a backdrop. BF and I made a picnic gathering goods at a cool deli, bakery, wine shop and grocery. We set up our picnic by the water, made sandwiches and opened our wine, and watched the sunset. It was amazing.

Crete is different from the other islands I’ve visited and a different world from Athens. We beached it for two days and BF has almost desensitized to all of the topless sunbathers. Today was museums and a scenic walking tour of the old town. Tomorrow, a bus will drop us off to take on the challenge of the 4-6 hour hike of the Samaria Gorge, the longest gorge in Europe. I know BF is planning to attempt a record. I just want to finish

We are having a wonderful time. Loving the restored Hotel Ionas in old town just off the Port of Chiana. Just gorgeous!
More later. We’ve been wthout internet for two days.
What an adventure!

The Universe is guiding me on an incredible adventure: my Plan B. I write here to share bits of my Odyssey, hopefully to inspire, encourage, or extend the virtual hand of friendship.

When I quit teaching in 2014, I could never have imagined the growth I would experience through travel, writing, reading, therapy, and introspection.

I believe human connection and compassion will go a long way toward our healing, and the best way to connect and feel compassion for one another is through the sharing of our stories.

Thank you for joining me here. I appreciate you and may we grow together.
