I’m back!
February 1, 2011

It’s been half a year since I wrote here. Crazy. Time flies when you’re busy with the stuff of life. I often tell my students that if I had a small block of time that was all mine–could do anything of my choosing–I’d write. They think I’m weird. Snow day, home alone, and I have big news!

I’m going to Greece! For the entire month of June and part of July and I get to go all by myself and be a big girl and live in an apartment in Athens and travel and study and explore while I continue working toward my Masters in English at the University of Indinapolis, Athens Campus. Although I received notification over a week ago, this snow day afforded me the first opportunity to actually read the documents I received with my letter of admission. It’s all quite exciting and I’ve been cheating myself out of the best part of any adventure . . . anticipation.

That’s over. I’m done rushing from home, to school, to work-out, to this book club, to that grocery store, to the next doctor’s appointment, to meet up with this person, or that group, without pause for reflection or a moment to savor. I’m finished missing out on the joy of looking forward to exciting “life nuggets” in my near future.

I’ve loved every second of this snow day! I have a nasty winter cold and I relish the sound of the freezing rain pelting my bedroom window as I’m snuggled in bed with magazines and my laptop. Oh weather man, leave me here for the rest of the week. Let me rest. Afford me the respite to savor and joyfully anticipate.

The Universe is guiding me on an incredible adventure: my Plan B. I write here to share bits of my Odyssey, hopefully to inspire, encourage, or extend the virtual hand of friendship.

When I quit teaching in 2014, I could never have imagined the growth I would experience through travel, writing, reading, therapy, and introspection.

I believe human connection and compassion will go a long way toward our healing, and the best way to connect and feel compassion for one another is through the sharing of our stories.

Thank you for joining me here. I appreciate you and may we grow together.
