Outside the Box Like a Fox
June 10, 2016

Friday morning BF and I awakened to a pair of red fox, mother and baby, frolicking in our back yard. We hid by the window and watched them play.

I looked up the interpretive meaning of a fox visit and found much information about the fox and her slyness, the message to be alert and aware of one’s surroundings. The fox as a problem solver. But what piqued my interest was the following reference:

“The fox encourages us to think outside of the box and use our intelligence in different, creative ways. The fox also brings us a message to try to approach our circumstances differently that we normally would. Be aware of some of our habits, and try a different angle of action.” (http://www.whats-your-sign.com/fox-animal-symbolism.html)

I thought to myself, That’s it! Our message! I have always prided myself as being a think outside the boxer. And as I’m approaching sixty years of age this year (Gasp!) I hope to take my pathway even further outside the box. Definitely change my angle and try something new. All part of Living Plan B.

This is not our first fox visit. Once, Christmas breakfast with our kids was interrupted by a fox hunting, and catching, one of our back-yard squirrels. Traumatizing. Now that visit may well have been a signal to be aware of our surroundings, but not this time. These two were just lovingly playing. I’m going to take that as a signal from the Universe to move forward in play and keep thinking outside the box!

Thank you Mrs. and Baby Fox. Visit again soon.

The Universe is guiding me on an incredible adventure: my Plan B. I write here to share bits of my Odyssey, hopefully to inspire, encourage, or extend the virtual hand of friendship.

When I quit teaching in 2014, I could never have imagined the growth I would experience through travel, writing, reading, therapy, and introspection.

I believe human connection and compassion will go a long way toward our healing, and the best way to connect and feel compassion for one another is through the sharing of our stories.

Thank you for joining me here. I appreciate you and may we grow together.
