Urbanspoon Adventure

I was visiting my daughter in new York City several years ago when she uploaded the Urbanspoon App to my iPhone and taught me to use it.  Home or away, if we are in the car and hungry, I search Urbanspoon for our next adventure.

Case in point: Sunday evening we found ourselves in unfamiliar territory on the west side of Indianapolis at the dinner hour.  I studied our options,”Honduran?”

“Sure. Lead the way.” And this is why I love him. Partly.

Maps lead us to a shabby, little pink building that, were it not closed, would have been right up our alley. A sign on the door gave instructions and an alternate address, in Spanish–which neither of us can read. So, I plugged in the new address and we declared, “Adventure!

And enjoyed a warm welcome and Spanish Karaoke. A sweet young man who talked with us about where we had visited in Mexico, begged BF to sing in English, but he declined. Maybe next time. Next adventure.

The Universe is guiding me on an incredible adventure: my Plan B. I write here to share bits of my Odyssey, hopefully to inspire, encourage, or extend the virtual hand of friendship.

When I quit teaching in 2014, I could never have imagined the growth I would experience through travel, writing, reading, therapy, and introspection.

I believe human connection and compassion will go a long way toward our healing, and the best way to connect and feel compassion for one another is through the sharing of our stories.

Thank you for joining me here. I appreciate you and may we grow together.
