Vacation Purse
April 8, 2009

This is my final day to prepare for our trip to Scotland. Yesterday proved to be an exercise in frustration. I had a simple, but healthy “to do” list that whipped me. I don’t get it, traveling is my absolute favorite thing in the entire world and I’m overwhelmed by this trip. I’m pulling my tiny, black leather “vacation purse” from the closet today. Just holding it always lifts my mood.

As I type this morning, a coyote is prancing around my back yard like he owns the place. I took his picture. Monday night, I sat at my kitchen table at dusk and watched two red fox play. It’s a regular game preserve around here.

I’m lunching with the Hudson Bay girls today and this morning, I must make my final clothing decisions. I bought a few items yesterday, but everything is ugly and I may take it all back. Time to get packing!

The Universe is guiding me on an incredible adventure: my Plan B. I write here to share bits of my Odyssey, hopefully to inspire, encourage, or extend the virtual hand of friendship.

When I quit teaching in 2014, I could never have imagined the growth I would experience through travel, writing, reading, therapy, and introspection.

I believe human connection and compassion will go a long way toward our healing, and the best way to connect and feel compassion for one another is through the sharing of our stories.

Thank you for joining me here. I appreciate you and may we grow together.
