One of my core beliefs is–energetically speaking–what I send out, I get back.
Another core belief of mine is, we’re all here to experience and share joy. To make the world a better place. Uplift. Love.
Last week, it dawned on me that, while I’m certainly having joyful experiences, something felt off. I wasn’t “in joy.” I decided to investigate, beginning by making a random list. Notice the catchy title.
Things that are Giving Me Joy Right Now
Summer sunshine
Early morning walks
Evening walks when the neighbors are out on their porches
Ten thousand + steps per day
Visits with kids and the grands
Our back patio
Journaling
Caprese Salad with tomatoes from David’s stand on Madison Avenue, drizzled with fresh, basil pesto
Date night at LaTrattoria
Library visits with Lily
Netflix’s Offspring
The board game, Splendor
The podcast Double Date with Marlo Thomas and Phil Donohue
Seeing my old teaching buddies at a high school graduation party
New bras (finally drug my sorry butt to Von Maur)
When Democrats and Republicans actually work together.
As I focus upon joyful things, sure enough, I feel more joy. It’s good to be healthy and alive. It’s good to be in my Indiana back yard. It’s good to be open to planning future travels. It’s good to acknowledge how difficult the past year and a half has been and to have compassion for myself and others. As I go forward, experiencing that old, familiar excitement about upcoming adventures, I’m determined to allow the full experience of what I’m feeling right here. Right now. To be kinder to myself and others. And to the best this human is able, may I spread a little joy.
As always, your writings inspire me as I relate to your life experiences.
Thank you for sharing?
